With over 50 events taking place across 10 packed days, this annual, international festival presents a diverse programme ranging from contemporary and new music to experimental and electronic music, sound art and improvisation.

Hosted in the University town of Huddersfield across an eclectic mix of traditional concert spaces, a vast industrial mill, churches and bars, hcmf// is one of the UK’s leading platforms for British and international contemporary art forms, encompassing concerts, films, installations, exhibitions and family events. The programme also features talks with some of the world’s most distinguished performers and there are creative workshops to inspire musicians of all ages and abilities too. On Monday 20 November, there’s an entire day of free music with 15 performances starting at 11am and continuing past midnight. For all events there are a limited number of £4 tickets for young people aged 17 – 29 (must be booked in advance).

Home to grand Victorian architecture and a multitude of listed buildings, combined with independent shops, the Kingsgate shopping centre and numerous cafés, bars and restaurants – Huddersfield is a town rich in creativity, stories and heritage. In addition to being the birthplace of Rugby League, it’s also home to Huddersfield Town Football Club, newly promoted to the Premier League. Places to stay range from city-centre hotels to family-run guesthouses and cottages in the surrounding villages and countryside.
